Learning how to play the piano can be a daunting task, especially if you don’t have any prior experience. But even if you did, you can become discouraged and overwhelmed by all you have to learn to play a song.
Or rather, all you THINK you have to learn.
But with the right resources, anyone can learn to play this beautiful instrument. That’s where the outlier method Pianoforall comes in.
In this post, I’ll be sharing my personal experience with the Pianoforall method, and giving you an honest review of what it’s like to learn piano with this program. All your questions will be answered!
What is Pianoforall?
Pianoforall is an offline (not online for once!) course designed to teach you how to play the piano.
The program is designed for beginners, but it’s also suitable for intermediate players who want to improve their skills or learn more genres.
The course was created by Robin Hall, a professional pianist, and teacher with over 20 years of experience. And he’s a nice guy who answers kindly your emails!
How does it work?
The Pianoforall course is divided into nine e-books, each of which covers a different aspect of playing the piano.
The e-books are accompanied by audio and video lessons, which make it easier to understand the concepts and techniques being taught. The course also includes practice exercises and songs to help you apply what you’ve learned.
It uses a combination of keyboard diagrams, musical notation, audio, and video to learn more efficiently how to play the piano.
So you learn by visual and aural association.
Indeed, the best way to learn anything is to combine visual, auditory, and tactile information. Even if you think you are mostly visual (like me), you will still benefit from this combination.
You are in complete immersion, and you integrate much more quickly the lessons. Your brain then makes the connections by itself!
Have a look at a sample lesson:
Even if you can only devote a little bit of time each day to playing the piano (we are all busy, right?), you will experience massive progress very soon.
In only a few days, you will play your first song, so easily and naturally.
My Personal Experience
When I first discovered it on its website, I was excited by seeing a new way of learning the piano and impressed by the success of so many students (over a quarter of a MILLION!).
But when I finally decided to get it, downloaded the ebooks, and started to learn with it, I was even more impressed.
Honestly, the design is outdated. But it is very functional, easy to use, and, more importantly, efficient and fun!
I never learned so easily while having a good time. I always saw my practice time as a chore, even if I loved playing the piano.
I wish I had bought it earlier, I would be so much better now. But, as they say, never too late, right?
I’ve been using Pianoforall for several months now, and I have to say, I’m impressed. As someone who had several years of traditional classical piano lessons behind me, it felt so good. The course is designed to be easy to follow, and Robin Hall’s teaching style is very approachable.
One thing I really like about Pianoforall is that it’s not just focused on classical music. The course covers a wide range of genres, including pop, blues, and jazz. This was important to me, as I wanted to learn to play songs from other music genres.
The e-books are well-written and easy to understand, and the audio and video lessons are high-quality. I also appreciate that the course is self-paced, so I can learn at my own speed.
I didn’t know anything about playing rhythm or chords-based songs on the piano. I even thought for years (decades, actually!) that I wasn’t good at rhythm.
But following the lesson one after the other, introducing progressively more complex rhythms, I realized that I wasn’t bad at all.
I enjoy playing different rhythm patterns on both hands. The essence of the piano is distilled almost naturally, page after page.
Quite impressive!
For example, I learned how to play the “Amazing ballad” that I teach now on my YouTube channel:
I know that each time I go to the piano, I will have a good moment and improve. Every single day.
That’s new to me.
It is also very different from everything I have seen so far. No fancy app, monthly subscription, or zoom call (with bad sound and freezes!).
A simple series of ebooks including videos and audio files directly into each page. Smart and efficient!
I like that you can go directly to the point, everything is in the same place.
It takes me 2 seconds to get started.
And you know that to get used to practicing anything regularly, the fewer obstacles between you and the practice, the better.
Fast and easy access to the course material is the way to go to practice the piano regularly and see real progress quickly!
The page where you left it at the end of your last session is memorized.
You don’t even need a bookmark.
Even better, you don’t need to be connected to the internet to use it.
You download it to your computer, tablet, or phone, and you play wherever and whenever you want.
Cool!
And you get to learn much more!

Pricing
Oh, I forgot to talk about the price.
Oh, I forgot to talk about the price.
Do you know how expensive private piano lessons can be? On average, $50 per hour.
Which adds up quickly if you want to learn anything. You will typically take years of lessons (I did!)
Here we are far from that.
So far that it is ridiculous.
The price of the full method, with lifetime access, no monthly subscription, contrarily to most of the methods out there, is…
$39
Yep. I told you that it would be ridiculous.
I laughed when I saw that.
You would pay more for a single lesson with a teacher.
And it comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee.
A total NO-BRAINER.
But in case you still have a few doubts, continue to read below, and you may be fully convinced.
Pros and Cons
Even if I enjoy it a lot, it’s not perfect. And it might not be the best option for you. Here are the pros and cons of using Pianoforall that I’ve experienced:
Pros:
- A comprehensive course that covers a wide range of genres and techniques.
- Easy-to-follow e-books and high-quality audio and video lessons.
- Suitable for beginners and intermediate players.
- Self-paced learning that fits around your schedule.
- Affordable price compared to other piano courses. (No monthly subscription!)
Cons:
- Not as interactive as in-person lessons with a teacher.
- Some may find the e-books and lessons a bit outdated in terms of design and layout.
What pianoforall students say about it?
“Since I was little I have always wanted to play. I’m now 38 years old, have never played, and with your program, I was able to go through the books and videos step by step and now I’m purchasing piano books to play songs to enjoy. I have to say that my husband was very skeptical but you have made him a true believer in your teaching program!” – Soony Williams, California, USA
”Enjoying the piano as I’ve never – bless you for your insight into teaching – it works!! Please accept my highest respect for possibly the best tutorial of all time – I am 74 and have seen a few. You have made me a happy slave to my keyboard and sound!” – Derek, Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire, England, UK
“… I had tried every method when it came to not only learning to play the piano but understanding the method. I am truly amazed at the progress I have made in THREE DAYS !!!! Your style is so easy to follow and the video along with the sheet music and the audio, no one could ask for anything more.” David Morgan, London, E6, UK
And the list goes on and on…
I will save you the other tens and tens of testimonials, you must be convinced by now. If not, it won’t help you to add more!
So I hope that you see the potential of this method.
For me, it is clear, and I can’t wait to go further into the method to learn more and play as I’ve never been able to.
Sincerely, that’s such a relief after all these years been stuck and thinking that I was so limited on the piano.
Despite years of traditional training in classical music.
I am happy to know that you will be able to do the same. It is heartwarming!
So, are you ready to get the level of piano playing you deserve and share with the world all those beautiful songs you will soon be playing?
